Cleveland Cable Cables for Wind Farms, Solar Energy and Power Transmission

Cleveland Cable manufactures and supplies electrical, renewable and solar cables. Established in 1978, Cleveland has nearly 40 years of experience in trading cables in the UK and Europe, and during that time the company has invested in new technologies and products.

The company employs 450 people, and has eight branches across the UK, as well as a new office in Dubai. Cleveland’s workforce is quality management ISO: 9001 and environmental:4001 approved. The company’s head office is in Middlesbrough, UK.

Infrastructure cables for renewable industries

Cleveland uses a quality assurance manual to ensure that products attain the highest standards. This provides consistency to the quality programme.

Alongside this is an in-house development team, which works with the latest technology to advance the company’s product line. This means that Cleveland can keep up with customers’ changing requirements and growth in the cable industry.

Cleveland has also added a range of cable cutting machines to its inventory. These can be cut and drum, with cables ranging from 25mm to 240mm.

Wind farm cables with moisture barriers

The company’s 33kV medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) cable is designed for use in wind farms and has a foil layer to create a moisture barrier. It is available in sizes from 70mm to 630mm, and manufactured to BS7870 standards.

It has a round stranded compacted aluminium conductor, inner semi-conductive layer cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation and an extruded black outer sheath. The added feature of water blocking tape means that repairs are kept to a minimum.

Electrical and renewable cables for photovoltaic power

Cleveland’s electrical cables are suited to range of industries, including wind farms, solar, energy and power transmission, among others.

The company’s renewable cables are specifically manufactured for energy applications up to 33kV. Our range of products means we can supply cables to generators that use photovoltaic power.

The BS7870 single core MDPE cable is often used in wind farms and includes a laminate layer to prevent moisture entering the system. It is XLPE-insulated, with a MDPE outer sheath to provide flexibility and abrasion resistance. The BS7870 is most suited to power networks and underground installations.

Solar cables to interconnect solar panel arrays

Solar photovoltaic (PV) cables are used to interconnect solar panel arrays, and can be integrated in both internal and external installations. Cleveland PV’s cables can be either installed on roofs, or beneath the ground. Fire-resistant properties, including halogen free, flame-retardant features, ensure maximum safety.

Solar energy cables

Our TUV approved solar energy cables are used to connect solar panels and come in sizes from 1.5mm to 35mm. They have halogen-free thermosetting rubber insulation, an electrolytic annealed tinned copper conductor and a black thermosetting rubber outer sheath.
