Vestas to supply wind turbines for 298MW power project in Oklahoma, US

Vestas has received an order from First Reserve for the supply of wind turbines for 298MW Kingfisher wind project in Oklahoma, the US.

Under the deal, Vestas will supply and commission 149 of its V100-2MW turbines for the facility.

It will also offer active output management service for the wind farm for a duration of 10-years.

The turbine delivery is likely to be concluded by late 2015.

Situated in Canadian County, Oklahoma, the wind farm has a consistent wind resource, and can generate enough energy to electrify nearly 100,000 households.

First Reserve has agreed to take over the project from Apex Clean Energy, which will manage the construction of the facility and serve as its asset manager during operations.

First Reserve managing director and head of infrastructure funds Mark Florian said: "First Reserve is pleased to be making one of the initial investments in its second energy infrastructure fund.

"Kingfisher Wind represents the opportunity to diversify the portfolio of our energy infrastructure program with experienced and reliable counterparties such as Vestas."

Previously, the wind turbine manufacturer has also delivered 49 of its V100-2 MW turbines to Apex for the Hoopeston wind project in Illinois, now acquired by IKEA.
