Siemens to supply nine wind turbines to EDF Luminus
Siemens Wind Power has received an order for nine wind turbines from EDF Luminus for its two projects in the Belgian municipalities of Dessel and Mol as well as in Beveren.
As part of the deal, Siemens will supply nine 3.2MW machines based on its D3 product platform, which will be deployed at the wind projects ‘Sibelco’ and ‘Katoen Natie – Loghidden City’.
The two wind projects will have a combined generation capacity of 28.8MW.
Siemens Wind Power Onshore CEO Thomas Richterich said: "The new contract with EDF Luminus is an important achievement for us.
"That consolidates a long-term collaboration with EDF Luminus and strengthens our position in the Belgian market."
Katoen Natie wind farm is situated in the port of Antwerp on the territory of Beveren municipality and will have a potential to generate 19.2MW of renewable power.
Sibelco wind farm is located in Dessel and Mol and will generate 9.6MW of power.
Both the wind farms will feature Siemens SWT-3.2-113 wind turbine with a rotor diameter of 113m and a rating of 3.2MW.
The nacelles will be mounted on towers with a hub height of 127.5m at the Katoen Natie project, and at a height of 99.5m at the Sibelco wind farm site.
Siemens will also be responsible for the service and maintenance of the turbines for a period of 15 years.
Turbine installation at both the sites will begin in October this year.
