Convert Italia 2MW solar plant goes online in Italy

Italy-based renewable energy company Convert Italia and Solaria Corporation, a solar module manufacturer, have announced the start of operation of a 2MW PV solar power plant in Italy.

The solar plant is using Convert Italia’s mx1 horizontal tracking system and advanced low concentration photovoltaic modules of Solaria to generate energy.

Convert Italia president Giuseppe Moro said Solaria’s innovative modules are a perfect fit with its MX1 tracker.

"Tracking systems, which follow the sun’s transit across the sky, increase sunlight capture, generating up to 30% more electricity than fixed PV arrays," added Moro.

"The result combines industry-leading performance and reliability with compelling system economics."

"We’ve had high expectations for the performance of the Solaria modules, and those expectations have been met.

Solaria CEO Dan Shugar said, "Our proprietary cell multiplication technology enables our high efficiency modules to use less than half the silicon of other PV modules."

Convert Italia owns and operates the plant and is also using Solaria’s modules for the construction of two other projects.

Solaira’s patented technology and proprietary manufacturing process enables the crystalline PV modules for the optimal solar tracking systems.
