Panasonic, Powertree partner to build 68 EV charging stations in San Francisco

Panasonic Enterprise Solutions has collaborated with Powertree Services to construct 68 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations with energy storage in San Francisco, US.

Through the partnership, Panasonic will deliver engineering, construction and procurement services for the charging stations, which will feature a battery storage component.

Expected to be completed by Earth Day 2015, the stations will supply high power charging to vehicles and services to support the grid.

When completed, the stations will have a 6.1MW of power capacity and 2.5MW of EV charging capacity.

Powered by on site photovoltaic panels, each station will support up to 70 amps or 18 kilowatts.

The stations can generate clean energy for building use and have the ability to provide backup generation when a grid outage occurs.
