AMSC to supply ECS for Inox 100MW wind project

The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Inox Wind director Devansh Jain said, "Inox is producing some of the best performing and most attractive wind turbines for the Indian market, which have been designed with consideration for Indian site conditions and low cost of operation and maintenance."

AMSC president and CEO Daniel P. McGahn said India recently introduced generation-based incentives for wind power, which incentivize project developers to select turbines that lower their levelized cost of energy and maximize their power output.

"This policy is sure to benefit a fully integrated player like Inox, who is committed to providing high-quality, competitively priced wind turbines with exceptional performance and reliability," McGahn added.

The ECS were designed and licenced by AMSC in 2009.

The ECS are integrated suite with power electronics systems and consist of wind turbine power converter cabinet, internal power supply and various controls to convert wind to electricity.

AMSC said the ECCS controls power flow, regulates voltage, monitors system performance, manages the pitch of wind turbine blades and the yaw of the turbines.

AMSC is expecting to provide all the ECS to Inox for the wind project in 2012.
