West Special Fasteners manufactures super duplex, nickel alloy, titanium and stainless steel special fasteners.

The company was founded in 1999 by team of experienced personnel from the fastener manufacturing industry. It has since grown into one of the most highly regarded manufacturers of special fasteners in the UK.

Some 38 staff work at the company’s base of operations in Dronfield, Derbyshire, in a 20,000ft² factory.

Super duplex, nickel alloy, titanium and specialist material special fasteners

We produce a comprehensive range of special fasteners in super duplex, titanium, stainless steels, alloys and specialist industrial metal forms. Items can be manufactured according to specific customer requirements and international standards.

Items we can manufacture in-house include studs, studbolts, hexagon bolts, socket capscrews, t-bolts, cup square bolts, nuts, socket countersunk screws, socket setscrews and other specialised fasteners. These are available in M3 to M100 metric size ranges, with 3/16in to 4in also supplied.

Thread forms include UNC, UNS, UNF, BSW, BSF, Whitworth, and wood screw thread.

Hexagon nuts, lock nuts and nyloc nuts

We offer hexagon nuts, lock nuts and nyloc nuts. These are available in varieties such as Din 934, Din 439, Din 985, Din 980, BS3692, BS1769, BS1768, BS1083, BS4882, and ANSI / ASME B18.2.2 table 3 and 9.

Hexagon head bolts and sets according to international standards

West Special Fasteners provides hexagon head bolts and sets according to international standards such as BS1769, BS1768, BS1083, DIN 931, DIN 933, ANSI / ASME B18.2.1 table 2, 3, 4 and 6, ISO 4014 and ISO 4017.

Customised studbolts and studding

Our studbolts are provided according to specifications in cut lengths and studding in full bar lengths up to 6m long, according to Din 975, Din 976, BS4882, BS4439, Din 938, and ANSI / ASME B16.5.

Socket capscrews, countersunk screws and setscrews

We offer socket countersunk screws, socket capscrews, and socket setscrews according to BS4168, BS2470, Din 912, ANSI / ASME B18.3 and ISO 4762 regulations.

Bolts, studs and washers

Other products we manufacture include cup square bolts, fitted bolts, U-bolts, J-bolts flange head and square bolts, manway studs, bobbins, connectors, slotted countersunk screws and washers.

Alloy and steel hot forged fasteners

In our production facilities, we carry out specialist hot forging of high nickel alloys and stainless steels.

Our four hot forging presses produce high-quality controlled forged fasteners using Pyrometer technology and customised techniques for induction-forging.

Our forged fasteners are in the standard range between ¼in and 2in for imperial fasteners; with metric fasteners, it is between M5 and M52.

With forged fasteners, the standard length ranges from 10mm-500mm long under the head fastener’s head, depending on the diameter.

Forging facilities, machining and hydraulic presses

Our production facilities contain a vertical machining centre, a number of CNC lathes, and sliding head machines.

In addition, we also have machines for drilling, milling, finishing, and component cleaning; conventional and automatic lathes, and CNC bandsaws.

The identity of items can be obtained through material grade, cast number and the manufacturer’s initials.

In our factory, we can reground and modify tools such as chaser dies, drills and taps. The mechanical press tooling is also produced in-house.

Our stock comprises 50t of raw material, with additional stock quickly obtained for the supply of fasteners manufactured in specialist alloys such as:

• Inconel Alloy 625. Used subsea and offshore for long life projects
• Titanium Grade 5. Used subsea and offshore for long life projects and where weight is an issue
• Super Duplex UNS S32760. Used subsea and offshore for a 25-year lifespan
• 316 Stainless Steel. Used subsea and offshore where cost is top priority and project life is shorter

Super duplex special fasteners for Greater Gabbard Project and subsea cable protection systems

Greater Gabbard Wind Farm was constructed on sandbanks, 23km off the coast of Suffolk in England. We supplied fasteners that were used in the 140 offshore wind turbines installed.
