MBH Energy (MBHE) has been in operation since 1996, specialising in high-quality water tube boilers, heat recovery systems and energy packages for the sugar, paper and timber industries.
Our services include design, manufacture, erection and commissioning of biomass boilers for woodchip, bagasse and other biofuels. We adapt and deliver unique designs to suite our clients' desired boiler conditions, as well as their various types and quality of biomass fuels. Biomass power generation
MBHE is capable of executing turnkey projects in the biomass power generation field, providing customised plant design using the latest technology. Our designs are driven by innovation, with optimised performance and reliability as our ultimate goal.
The capabilities of the company cover all the disciplines needed to ensure that any plant supplied is provided with all technical and commercial guarantees as required by our clients.
Process, part and mechanical design
We engineer the total thermal design of the boiler performance, steam/water temperature profiles, air gas temperature profiles, pressure and draft loss accounts, natural and forced circulation, and heat and mass balances.
Pressure part design is carried out to recognise codes such as BS1113 and ASME, using knowledge of pressure containment perimeters and elevated temperatures for design purposes. In addition, all attachment designs are carried out together with stress values, which can be applied for external loadings resulting from support methods.
All integral plate work and structural design is carried out in-house following SABS standards and good engineering practice. Mechanical design functions are also included for various types of firing equipment and specifications of draft groups.
Specialised biomass firing equipment
The MBHE BCC furnace design, used for spreader firing on BioBurn grates or CAD grates, makes use of proven design concepts for firing biomass fuels. Specially designed 'hot zones' make it easy to burn otherwise difficult biofuels.
The MBHE BioBurn Grate is a flat-surface pinhole grate, which is slightly inclined and specifically designed for the combustion of biomass, such as bagasse, wood waste and vegetable refuse.
Detailed design and specifications
For components forming the principal parts of the boiler technology, detailed drawings are produced together with the necessary specifications to facilitate purchasing and manufacturing cycles.
The production of technical specifications for equipment purchased, such as bought-out items including valves, fans and pumps, are carried out in accordance with international standards and local requirements.
Operating manuals and data books
The production of plant data books for the independent inspection authority, as well as operating manuals to facilitate safe and low-cost operation of the plant, are included in a turnkey project.
Fabrication of boiler plant products
MBHE extensively uses the South African manufacturing industry to provide the required components for a boiler plant, ultimately offering a plant significantly comprising local materials. Within the local industry, there are well-established manufacturers who provide high-quality pressure part components. We strive to create an exceptional, deep-rooted relationship with these suppliers.
During the fabrication of any of our products, we ensure adherence to the highest standards of quality. We are very serious about health and safety, and all work is conducted in accordance with the relevant standards.
All raw materials required for the specific components on order are identified and certified accordingly. All materials are marked, cut, formed, manipulated and machined strictly in accordance with the relevant quality control documentation. This ensures that the specifications and codes required by our clients are met.
